Fake News And False Teachers
Fake news has been around for a long time because false teachers are always present.
In 2 Thessalonians, Paul writes to the church in Thessalonica to clarify and correct actions based on his first letter. 1 Thessalonians was a letter of encouragement. The Thessalonians were growing in faith which made Paul very happy. But, there was a misunderstanding and many false teachings about when Christ would return. These false teachings were twisting Paul’s words about the return of Jesus by convincing people that Christ would be returning soon. Because of this, many people quit their jobs to wait for the world to end. Leaving their jobs brought much unrest. Being idle can harm people by bringing on anxiety, fear, and conflict.
Compare 2 Thessalonians To Today
Today, many people are teaching that we should depend on our government to provide for us. In other words, socialism is the way for America to survive. Now to be sure, most politicians and news outlets do not admit to being socialists. Instead, they want to convince you that it’s for the better good, which is hogwash! While they never demonstrate through facts or history, they claim that people need the Federal Government to provide their needs free or minimal cost. Someone else will pay for it, and they can depend on the federal government to support them. So, that works until the money runs out, then people are plunged into poverty, and there is no incentive to be a high producer because the government will take it away.
Why This Is Wrong
America was built on faith, character, and integrity. Faith in God, hard work, and trust in each other. There is no place in The Bible or any history books where society has been prosperous when the government is the provider. Remember, Rome was once the greatest empire of all time. But Rome had no heart. The Romans believed there were many Gods and tried to eliminate Christianity. But the Roman empire fell because they thought the government was the supreme power.
The Constitution Says
Article 1, section 8 of the U.S. Constitution contains information about what the federal government can do. All other responsibilities fall to the state level. If there is a change, it must be done by Constitutional Amendment. The federal government cannot just decide to take on a responsibility not granted in the U.S. Constitution. No place in the Constitution gives the federal government the ability to provide free benefits to anyone.
The most egregious fake news item is that Congress is legally allowed to restrict Americans at will. Here is the line in the Constitution that clarifies the authority of Congress, “To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;”
Everything else is up to the states. There will always be “false teachers,” and politicians will always be hungry for control and power. “We The People” can take it, or we can stand up for our rights. We can voice our opinions no matter what people think, and we can contact our elected representatives to tell them what we expect. Most importantly, we can vote!
